MINUTES
Minutes of the Regular Meeting of the Sullivan Township Board held at the Sullivan Township Hall,
January 6, 2015. The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Mabrito at 6:30 p.m. with the pledge of allegiance.
PRESENT: Supervisor, Tony Mabrito; Clerk, Sue Buckner; Treasurer, Tammy Gillette; Trustee, Kevin Aney; Trustee, Mary Kotecki; five residents, and three guests of Sullivan Township.
ABSENT: None
MINUTES: It was moved by Sue Buckner, supported by Mary Kotecki, to accept the minutes of the regular meeting of December 2, 2014. Motion carried.
FINANCE: The Treasurer’s report on Township receipts of $18,592.68for the period of December 1, 2014, through December 31, 2014, was presented by Treasurer, Tammy Gillette.
It was moved by Sue Buckner, supported by Tammy Gillette, to pay bills of $47,959.60as presented by Clerk, Sue Buckner. Motion carried.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: Planning Commission: The next meeting will be held on Monday, January 12, at 5:30 p.m. No reports for Parks and 4H Fair Board.
AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION: Ron Matthews, of Verplank Trucking, advised that their property on Hts. Ravenna Road has been sold to Swanson Pickle Company. Ron, with John Swanson, of Swanson Pickle Company, answered questions from the board and residents regarding rescinding the special land use agreement for sand mining between Verplank and Sullivan Township. This topic will be discussed at the Monday, January 12 Planning Commission Meeting.
Ken Hulka, of the Muskegon County Road Commission, explained the request for the 1.5 mill county wide property tax increase for roads. The special election will be held February 24, 2015.
OLD BUSINESS: A resident complained about the road work done in Nicholl Hts. Subdivision this past summer, and registered a complaint regarding a residence in the subdivision.
NEW BUSINESS: A final decision will be made at the February meeting regarding which township roads will be worked on this year.
Tammy Gillette advised that disabled Veterans, who are exempt from paying property taxes, are required to pay the special Drain Assessment.
DISCUSSION: MTS Permits for the month of December, and permit type breakdown for 2014, were discussed.
Motion made by Sue Buckner, supported by Kevin Aney, revising the full time employee vacation request policy. Motion carried.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the Board, it was moved by Sue Buckner, supported by Mary Kotecki to adjourn. Motion carried. The meeting adjourned at 7:40 p.m.
