Sullivan Township Board Meeting July 6, 2021

Meeting called to order by Tony Mabrito at 6:30pm with the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL: Present: Tony Mabrito-Supervisor, Libby Spencer-Clerk, Tracey McGhan-Treasurer,
Joe Kremm-Trustee, OPEN- Trustee
Residents: 28 residents
Special Guests: Dave Bossenbroek
MINUTES: It was moved by Libby Spencer, supported by Joe Kremm, to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held on June 2, 2021 and the joint meeting held on June 8,2021. Motion Carried.
FINANCE: The Treasurer’s report on Township Receipts of $258,755 for the period of June 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021 was presented by Treasurer, Tracey McGhan.
It was moved by Joe Kremm, supported by Tracey McGhan to pay the bills of $143,549.63 as presented by Clerk, Libby Spencer. Motion Carried.
REPORTS:
Planning Commission Report – the lack of a Special land permit for Arends Solar Panels will be turned over to our attorney
Park Committee Report – New Pavilion ceiling nearly complete.
-West Michigan Sewer called to unclog and remove roots from septic
– The womans’ bathroom door was damaged/new striker plates installed
CORRESPONDENCE:
FCP has presented a draft for a noise ordinance for the board to review. Other township noise ordinances have also been collected and reviewed. Dave Bossenbroek, our attorney will adjusting our noise ordinance to change it to a civil infraction ordinance. Several of the residents attending the meeting were concerned that the current ordinance was not enforceable and presented a petition with 80 signatures for one complaint.
OLD BUSINESS:
Office Furniture final quotes were reduced to $3,693. The board voted to approve the office restoration.
Tony contacted the MCRC to ask for resolution in the brining concerns on south Sullivan Rd
NEW BUSINESS:
The purchase of a laptop needed for the treasurer position was approved by the board.
Several residents have applied for the open Trustee position. We will begin setting up interviews next week.
Up-Dates to Ordinance 18.01for Maple Island to extend the “No Engine Braking” area and Ordinance 14.01 for Spaulding Rd to expand the “No Truck” area to Broton Rd, have been approved.
Mers has given a presentation to the board on a better pension plan option, this was also unanimously approved by the board.
The Muskegon County Treasurer was contacted to see if the option existed to wave penalties on late taxes paid between February 15 and February 28. The board approved to wave these fees.
Becky Belknap was introduced as our new cleaning/maintenance person. Thank you for all you do Becky.
