Board Meeting 3-1-2022

Sullivan Township Board Minutes    March 1, 2022

Meeting was called to order by Tony Mabrito at 5:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

ROLL CALL: Present:  Tony Mabrito-Supervisor, Libby Spencer-Clerk, Tracey McGhan-Treasurer, Joe Kremm-Trustee, John Carr-Trustee.  Eight residents also attended the meeting.

MINUTES:  It was moved by Libby Spencer, supported by Joe Kremm to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held.  Motion carried.

FINANCE:  The Treasurer’s report on all Township receipts of $38,255.68 for the period of February 1, 2022 to February 28, 2022 was presented by Treasurer Tracey McGhan.

It was moved by Libby Spencer, supported by Tracey McGhan to pay bills of $35,453.59 as presented by Clerk Libby Spencer.  Motion carried.

REPORTS: Michigan Township Services Report was reviewed

John Carr reported Planning Commission Meeting held on Feb 15, 2022.  The PC has recommended a conditional rezoning and split of a 12.8 acres parcel owned by the Starts on Wolf Lake Road from R-R to R-1. The Condition that no further splits will be requested, and this condition will be recorded on both parcels at the Muskegon County Register of Deeds.

The board voted unanimously to approve this recommendation.

CORRESPONDENCE: Fresh Coast Planning Activity was reviewed

OLD BUSINESS: John Carr presented the board with a draft of an ATV ordinance for our township.  The board will review this and suggest any changes before months meeting.

NEW BUSINESS: The Flood Ordinance previous reviewed has been stalled upon further investigation as to the effects it would have on our residents,

Spring Newsletter contents were discussed.  We are planning on holding the Spring Clean Up during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of May. Tracey McGhan reported that there will be added charges the disposal of mattresses and furniture.  Also, all material must be hand unloaded versus utilizing dump trailers.  Also due to high demand, the tire recycling event is at risk.

Road Project Contracts for 2022 to make improvements to the following roads were approved:  Cloverville Road (Hts Ravenna to Cline), Wolf Lake Road (Hts Ravenna to Cline), Broton Road (Hts Ravenna to Dead End) and Cline Road (Wolf Lake to Hilton Park). It was also approved to Chip seal Hilton Park Road (Hts Ravenna to Sternberg)

Senior Resource Projects that we are currently proposing would be to install the proper height toilets and sinks in the hall bathrooms.  We are also looking making repairs to the walking path and resurfacing our shuffleboard courts.  We are also considering balance improvement equipment in the park.

We have money available through ARPA to make improvements to our township and would like to have input from our residents how best to meet their needs.  Some ideas would be Renovation the upstairs of the hall, Improvements to the Sullivan Lake Park, Creating a Pickle Ball court at the park, improvements to the ball field, etc. Please feel free to summit other ideas, all will be considered.

The Budget Approval for FY2022/2023 was presented to the board, reviewed, and approved.

With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 6:30pm.
