Sullivan Township Board Meeting Minutes    October 4, 2022

Meeting was called to order by Tony Mabrito at 5:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

ROLL CALL: Present: Tony Mabrito-Supervisor, Libby Spencer-Clerk, Tracey McGhan-Treasurer, Joe Kremm-Trustee, John Carr-Trustee along with 7 residents

MINUTES:  It was moved by Libby Spencer, supported by Tracey McGhan, to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held.  Motion carried.

FINANCE:  The Treasurer’s report on all Township receipts of $11,132.73 for the period of May 1, 2022, to May 31, 2022, was presented by Treasurer Tracey McGhan.It was moved by Tracey McGhan, supported by John Carr, to pay bills of $13,351.15 as presented by Clerk Libby Spencer.  Motion carried.

REPORTS: Planning Commission – John Carr reported that they are still working on a storage container ordinance and a solar commercial ordinance.

OLD BUSINESS:  The board voted unanimously to move forward with the land division processes for the three Sheringer Property Owners between Barnes and Sullivan roads, along with investigating land survey options.

-It was presented by the MTS that a chair lift would be a sufficient add to access the upper hall according to American Disability Act requirements.

NEW BUSINESS: Golf Cart Resolution 2015-05 is going to remain as written and is separate from the ORV ordinance.

-Joe Kremm is going to check with the MCRC to see if they would recommend opening up Wolf Lake Rd north of Hts Ravenna Rd to allow ORV traffic to connect with the Egleston Township Ordinance.  The speed limit on Wolf Lake Road is 45 mph in Egleston versus a 55 mph in Sullivan.

-A Punch Card for 3 free Dump trip vs the 3 Designated Dump Weeks was passed by the board with a 3 to 2 vote.  The punch card will be added to the December tax bills and will not be replaced if lost.

-SWS annual garbage and recycle billing was discussed as being an exclusive garbage and recycling service for our township versus having 3 separate services as currently exist.  This would cut down on the heavy traffic for the township roads, but more information and options would be needed.  Tracey Mcghan will investigate this further.

-The board passed the option for the Township to set up Auto-pay for all Vendors that would like to participate.

-John Carr is going to seek additional quotes for the Sullivan Lake Parking lot and Bike Trail Connection.  We will call a special meeting if needed to move this project forward.

– The board accepted a bid from Bob’s Ashphalt for put a topcoat Township Park parking lot.

-Tracey McGhan is going to reach out to our Grant Writer to see if we qualify for additional grants for the Sullivan Lake Park.

PUBLIC COMMENTS: Tammy Gillette requested that a light-up sign stating “cross traffic does not stop” be added to the Sternberg at Maple Island Road due to excessive accidents.  Libby Spencer will contact MCRC.

-Tom Jasick suggested a thank you and gift of money be provided to Eric French for mowing and maintaining the grass near Sullivan Township Lake Park all summer.  The board unanimously approved a $500 gift to show our appreciation.

ADJOURNMENT: The meeting was adjourned at 7:15pm.
