Sullivan Township Board Meeting Minutes March 5, 2024
MEETING: was called to order by Tony Mabrito at 5:30pm with the Pledge of Allegiance.
ROLL CALL: Present: Tony Mabrito-Supervisor, Libby Spencer-Clerk, Tracey McGhan-Treasurer, Joe Kremm-Trustee, Jeremy Rios-Trustee, 13 residents were also present.
MINUTES: It was moved by Joe Kremm, supported by Tracey McGhan, to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held. Motion carried.
FINANCE: The Treasurer’s report on all Township receipts of $3001 for January 1 to January 31, 2024, and the bills of $25183 were presented. The Treasurer’s report on all Township receipts of $4198 for February 1 to February 29, 2024, and the bills of $16,390 were also presented. It was moved by Tracey McGhan, supported by Joe Kremm to pay the bills for January and February as presented.
REPORTS: Planning Commission – Jeremy Rios reported that the Solar New State Law of Solar Energy and how it affects the township was discussed at great length.
Michigan Township Services activities were reviewed.
Fresh Coast Planning Activity- February activities were reviewed. It is apparent that residents have been bypassing the township and contacting Fresh Coast with complaints who has been instructed to reroute all complaints back to the township.
OLD BUSINESS: IPMC is going to be reviewed by Tracey McGhan to see if we should continue to use it or go back to our individual ordinances. She will report back next month.
Tony Mabrito updated that Sheringer from Barnes to Maple Island will be repaired by the MCRC.
NEW BUSINESS: FY2023/2024 Budget Review and was passed by the board.
There will be a May 7,2024 Election for Ravenna School Millage with 2 proposals on it.
The Township will be taking applications for Zoning Enforcement Officer Position to help reduce the Fresh Coast fees. This will be a very part time position.
An Office Administrator will also be open at the end of the year and applications for this position will also be accepted.
With the reduced hours, it was agreed that our Office Administrator will be allowed to invest her own money into her Pension.
Township Elective Position Packets are available at the office for anyone interested in running for the Township Board in the August Election. All packets must be filled out and returned by April 23.
The latest version of the Shipping Container Ordinance was reviewed. There are still concerns of the minimum amount of land that is required is set at 5 acres. Several residents and a couple board members would like to see this lowered, and it is being sent back to the Planning Commission for revision.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: There will be a meeting on March 18th, at 6:30 in the Sullivan Township Hall to talk to Representative Luke Meerman about the Drain Commission Laws and the Knutsen Drain Project.
ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business to come before the Board, it was moved by Libby Spencer, supported by Tracey McGhan to adjourn at 6:40pm. Motion carried.
