Sullivan Township Board Meeting Minutes – September 3, 2024

MEETING: was called to order by Tony Mabrito at 5:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

ROLL CALL: Present: Tony Mabrito-Supervisor, Libby Spencer-Clerk, Joe Kremm-Trustee, Jeremy Rios-Trustee   Absent: Tracey McGhan.   12 residents were present.  Guest:  Sean Sexton, (twp forester)

MINUTES:  It was moved by Libby Spencer supported by Jeremy Rios to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held.  Motion carried.

FINANCE:  The Treasurer’s report on all Township receipts of $6,928.33 for the period of March 1, 2023, to March 31, 2023, was presented by Clerk Spencer. It was moved by Libby Spencer, supported by Joe Kremm, to pay bills of $58,054.16 as presented by Clerk Spencer.  Motion carried.

REPORTS: Planning Commission – Jeremy Rios reported that Fresh Coast is drawing up the Accessory Building increased sizes that were agreed upon by the Planning Committee.   The Commercial Solar Ordinance is going to be reviewed by Slot Law and a public hearing will be scheduled.

Fresh Coast Planning Activity was reviewed.

OLD BUSINESS: Sean Sexton was present to provide a contract with Countryside Sawmill for harvesting the timber on the Sullivan Township land on the East corner of Sternburg and Hilton Park.

The Township will be receiving $48,000 for the sale of this timber.  Clerk Spencer will draw up a resolution to move the money from the forestry fund to the General fund.

NEW BUSINESS: Walking Path Repaving project was reviewed and voted down at this time since the path is still is decent condition.

Double Chip and Seal of Mount Garfield Road was approved and should be completed this week.

The Sullivan Lake Park path to the water has been put on hold due to concerns of damage that has been occurring to the bridge and parking lot.  One resident did send a letter saying that this was something they would like to see.

An Amendment to the FY2024/2025 approved Budget was passed on a roll call vote.

Patrick Metchler of Brickley Delong will be reviewing the Audit Results at the Oct 1st meeting.

DISCUSSION/ANNOUNCMENTS: The organizer of the Holloween Parties was present to ask for help to continue the parties by means of a trunk or treat event in the township parking lot. While much of the old games, decorations and prizes have been disposed of during the upstairs renovation the township would like to support her efforts.  A joint account will be set up to allow for easy access to the funds needed to make this a successful venture.  This option will be reviewed with our accountant for legalities.

PUBLIC COMMENTS: A resident asked if the senior millage funds have been dedicated to yet.  The resident would like to see the money go towards activities such as senior dinners, Cardiac Drum exercises or discounted pedicures for seniors.  The township is open to all suggestions but would need a volunteer group or committee to organize these events.

A resident asked for an update on the Ordinances that are being reviewed by Slot Law as well as the Master Plan Open House results. Clerk Spencer will check this progress and report back next month.

ADJOURNMENT:  There being no further business to come before the Board, it was moved by Libby Spencer supported by Tony Mabrito to adjourn at 6:25pm.  Motion carried.
