July 2023 Board Meeting Minutes

Sullivan Township Board Meeting Agenda    July 6, 2023

Meeting was called to order by Tony Mabrito at 5:30 p.m. with the Pledge of Allegiance.

ROLL CALL: Present: Tony Mabrito-Supervisor, Tracey McGhan-Treasurer, Joe Kremm-Trustee, Jeremy Rios-Trustee, Absent/Excused: Libby Spencer-Clerk.  There were 20 residents present.

MINUTES:  It was moved by Joe Kremm, supported by Jeremy Rios, to accept the minutes of the regular meeting held.  Motion carried.

FINANCE:  The Treasurer’s report on all Township receipts of $22,074.91 for the period of June 1, 2023, to June 3, 2023, was presented by Treasurer Tracey McGhan. It was moved by Joe Kremm, supported by Tracey McGhan, to pay bills of $24,976.51 as presented by Treasurer Tracey McGhan.  Motion carried.

REPORTS: Planning Commission – Jeremy Rios updated the special land use for a new day care

-Michigan Township Services – (did not receive June Activity)

CORRESPONDENCE: Fresh Coast Planning Activity was reviewed

OLD BUSINESS: Noise Ordinance review/update was discussed.

-Master Plan Update was tabled until next meeting.

NEW BUSINESS: Revise the August 4, 2022 board minutes was approved, to clarify that NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES are allowed on any township property.

– Public Notices published in Chronicle will be paid for by Applicant via escrow was approved by the board.

-Township Property will be reposted noting NO Unauthorized Motorized Vehicles will be allowed

– A New Cleaning/Maintenance person was hired to replace Deb Vetter.  We would like to thank Deb for all her hard work and service to our community. And we would like to welcome Tim Decker.

-Hall Renovation was discussed as to the progress.

– Muskatawa Trail connection will continue as soon as we receive a permit from EGLE.  Alternative financial support options for this project was discussed by some of the residents

-Parking Lot seal coat and restripe will be completed after the Hall renovation is done.

DISCUSSION/ANNOUNCMENTS: Supervisor Mabrito called for a vote to excuse the Board to go to a closed session pursuant to MCL 15.269(1)(h). The board was excused and returned after the 7-minute meeting.

PUBLIC COMMENTS: Tammy Gillette reported that Sheringer Road did not get brined.  Tony Mabrito will call the MCRC to discuss.

-Residents attending the meeting voiced their concerns about extending motorized vehicle activity on township property.  They are concerned about road degradation, littering, drinking, etc.

-Residents were also present in support of opening trails on the township property.

-It was requested to continue to post up-coming Board meeting agenda topics on the Sullivan township website.

-It was requested and approved by the board to notify the local towing companies that they are not to answer any call to tow vehicles from the township property without first notifying the local authorities about the Ordinance violation.

-Residents are also interested in a volunteer township clean day.  The residents agreed to come up with a proposal for an Annual Clean-Up Day.

ADJOURNMENT:  There being no further business to come before the Board, it was moved by Joe Kremm, supported by Jeremy Rios to adjourn at 7:28pm.  Motion carried.
